Masataka Kitagawa

President and Chief Executive Officer

Masataka Kitagawa joined MSIG in 1983 (formerly Mitsui Marine and Fire Insurance Co., Ltd before October 2001). He started his career as a liability insurance underwriter in the Fire & Casualty Underwriting department (1983-89) After a brief secondment to a related company in Japan he then joined the Group’s European subsidiary in London to engage in marketing, sales & risk management support for Japanese related clients in the UK (1993-97).

In recognition of his superior underwriting skills Masataka then returned to the Underwriting Department in Tokyo to take up his next assignment as group leader of 2 specialized insurance sections to capitalize on his global insurance/reinsurance knowledge & experience (1998-05). From 2006 to 2008, he joined the Reinsurance Department in Tokyo to take a leading role as liaison and support for MSIG’s overseas reinsurance subsidiaries, including MS Frontier Reinsurance.

Masataka was appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer of MS Frontier Re in 2009. The current success of MS Frontier Re is built on the efforts of our world class staff and Masataka’s extensive experience and guidance will be focused on continuing to lead the Company to further growth and profitability.

He is a graduate of Hitosubashi University (Bachelor of Social Science).

Gary Devery

Gary P. Devery

Chief Financial Officer

Gary joined MS Frontier Re in November 2006, and is responsible for broad areas of the company’s financial management, administration and compliance control. He also serves as a member of the board of directors.

He started his insurance career in 1989 with Aviva plc in London, where he was engaged in various fields of accounting and financial management. In 2000 he relocated to Bermuda, to work for Marsh Management Services Bermuda Ltd and later for Attorneys Liability Assurance Society Ltd where he developed key skills in accounting, financial management and investments.

Gary is a graduate of University College Dublin (Batchelor of Arts degree in Economics). He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, and also holds an Associate in Risk Management designation with the Insurance Institute of America.

Peter Keane

Peter Keane

Chief Underwriting Officer

Peter started his career in 1985 and has 26 years of experience all spent in reinsurance underwriting.

In 1990 he joined Transatlantic Re in London as an Assistant Underwriter and rose through the ranks with various titles to become  Vice President in May 1999.
In June 1999 Peter co-founded a new Lloyd’s operation, Syndicate 2121 managed by Argenta Private Capital. He was appointed Syndicate Deputy and was a member of the senior management team.

In February 2007 Peter joined MS Frontier in Bermuda as an Executive Underwriter. On July 1st 2008 he was promoted to Chief Underwriting Officer. During his time here he has brought additional underwriting expertise to the operation, introduced a range of new internal reporting procedures as well as introducing new clients and business, fully fitting the strategy of the company.
